TR90 is a nylon, and the thing to know about it is what it does when you sit on it: it flexes and returns rather than cracking. That is why the brand uses it for the two frames on this page that are most likely to be treated badly, the sport wrap that goes in a jacket pocket on a boat and the screen frame that gets pushed up onto a head forty times a day. It is also light, which on the 137 mm wrap means a frame you stop noticing on a long ride, and on the 138 mm round means a frame built to be forgotten for eight hours.
The two frames share the material and nothing else. The wrap carries a 62 by 37 mm polarized, UV400-rated lens and a 123 mm arm cut to grip, in five tints from grey to orange, $11.99 to $19.99 for a two-pack. The round frame carries a 51 by 45 mm clear lens with a coating the brand rates for blue light, a 145 mm arm cut to rest, and no tint, polarization or UV rating at all; the academy of ophthalmology's view of that coating is on its own page here. Both come with metal hinges, which is where a nylon frame either lasts or does not.
What the rating on the lens means
UV400 on a lens means the lens is rated to stop ultraviolet light up to a wavelength of 400 nanometres, which covers UVA and UVB, the two bands that reach the ground. That rating is the whole of what a sunglass lens does about the sun; polarization is a separate property that cuts reflected glare and, in the words of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, provides no UV protection on its own. The academy also says a darker lens is not a safer lens and that the sun's rays pass through haze and cloud, so the number to read on any pair, ours included, is the UV rating rather than the tint. A pair of sunglasses is not treatment for any eye condition, and light sensitivity that arrived suddenly is a question for an optometrist or ophthalmologist, not for a lens.

What the coating does, and what it does not
The lens in our screen glasses carries a coating the brand rates as filtering part of the blue band of visible light, and that is the property we print. What that coating does for you is a separate question, and on it the American Academy of Ophthalmology is direct: the small amount of blue light coming from a screen has never been shown to harm the eye, the evidence shows no meaningful link between blue light and damage to the retina, and blue-light glasses are not necessary. The tired, dry feeling after a long day at a monitor is real and the academy attributes it to blinking about half as often at a screen, not to the colour of the light. These frames are sold as a clear-lens frame with a coating; they are not a treatment for eye strain, headaches or sleep, and we do not say they are.

Will a BEALER TR90 frame feel lighter on you than the polycarbonate one?
Both are light frames and the difference on a face is small; what TR90 does that polycarbonate does not is flex. The women's rectangle in polycarbonate is rigid and relies on its metal hinge; the wrap and the round frame in TR90 bend at the bridge and come back, which suits a frame that lives in a pocket.
Will a BEALER TR90 wrap fit under your helmet?
The 123 mm arm is short and straight, which is what you want under a cycling helmet strap: it grips the side of the head above the ear instead of hooking behind it. The wrap is 137 mm across, and a reviewer describes the fit as snug, which under a helmet is the right word.
