The lens has a coating that reflects part of the blue band of visible light, and that is the property printed on each card. What the coating does for you is a separate question, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology has answered it plainly: the small amount of blue light from a screen has never been shown to harm an eye, the evidence shows no meaningful link between blue light and damage to the retina, and blue-light glasses are not necessary. The tired, dry feeling at the end of a day at a monitor is real, and the academy puts it down to blinking about half as often at a screen. The fix it offers is to look up and away, not to put a coating in front of the eye.
So what are you buying? A frame. Should you buy BEALER blue light glasses for eye strain?
Not for that reason. The academy of ophthalmology says blue-light glasses are not necessary and that screen strain comes from blinking less, not from blue light; its advice is to look away from the screen regularly. Buy this frame if you want a light, clear, round frame for a desk, and expect nothing from the coating beyond a little less glare off a white page.
Are BEALER screen glasses prescription, or can you get them with your prescription?
Neither: the lens is plano, a plain clear lens with no correction, and the frame is not sold as a carrier for prescription lenses. If you need correction, a coated lens from your optician does the same job in a frame cut for it.
Can you wear BEALER blue light glasses outdoors?
You can, but they are not sunglasses. The lens carries no tint, no polarizing film and no UV rating of its own, so in sun it stops no glare and does not do the job the three sunglass shelves do. Indoors, at a desk or a kitchen table, is what the 145 mm arm and the clear lens were built for.
