A child does not take glasses off. A child pulls them off by one arm, drops them face down on a paving slab and sits on them in the car seat, and the frame on this page answers that sequence: a soft thermoplastic that bends out and returns rather than a rigid one that snaps. The word for that is bendable, and it is the word we use. One three-year-old in the reviews had a lens out of one pair within two minutes; the other two pairs in her mother's box carried on, and three to a box is the answer to a child rather than a promise about a frame.
The lens is the part that matters, and the optometrists say why: children spend more time in the sun than adults, and the harm from ultraviolet light adds up over a lifetime. Every 45 mm lens here carries a UV400 rating and a polarizing film, so on a beach the glare off wet sand goes as well as the brightness from above. Before it goes on a child
Children need sunglasses for the same reason adults do and, according to the American Optometric Association, for longer: they spend more time in the sun than adults, and the harm from ultraviolet light adds up over a lifetime. The academy of ophthalmology says plainly that babies and children need hats and sunglasses. The lens in our children's frame carries a UV400 rating and a polarizing film; the frame bends because it is made of a soft thermoplastic rather than a rigid one. Bendable is not the same as unbreakable: US regulation requires the lens in every pair of sunglasses to pass a drop-ball impact test, and a pass in that test is all that impact resistant means. A pair that has been sat on or stepped on should be looked over before it goes back on a face, and a child with a red, watering or light-sensitive eye needs an eye doctor rather than a darker lens.

Will BEALER kids sunglasses fit your two-year-old?
Reviewers have them on two-and-a-half-year-old twins and describe the fit as a little big but staying on. The brand cuts the 45 mm frame for three to nine, so at two the arms will sit further back than they should; the frame bends inward to take up some of that, and by four the fit is right.
Will your children be able to tell the three pairs in a BEALER kids box apart?
No, and that is deliberate: a pink frame with cyan arms, a cyan frame with pink arms and a purple frame with pink arms in one box, or black, blue and green in another. Children in the same family can tell theirs apart, and one pair can live in the car while the others travel.
What should you check on a BEALER kids frame after it has been sat on?
Bend the arms out and back once; a soft thermoplastic returns to shape, and a pair that stays bent or has a lens loose in the rim is one to retire.
